About Jimmy Kennedy – Irish Artist Living in Rome

Jimmy Kennedy is an Irish artist, born in Limerick. After studying art as a young man, he took the safe route and majored in business in college.

In 2007, Jimmy moved to Rome for three months to experience the city and the art of the Italian masters. Nearly 10 years later, Jimmy is still in Rome.

He began his time in the city as a tour guide, showing visitors the beauty of Rome’s unrivalled art collections. After a few years, Jimmy put his business skills to work by co-founding his own tour company while always developing his artistic talent at the same time.

Jimmy is a self-taught artist, widely perfecting his skill by copying some of the world’s classical painters. Many of these early studies by Jimmy can be seen under the Paintings page.

Exhibitions and the Rome Expansionists

Jimmy now sells his paintings internationally and regularly shows in Rome. In 2013, Jimmy co-founded a group of international artists known as the Rome Expansionists. Meeting regularly, the group plans multi-artists exhibitions around the city to showcase the talent to Rome’s expat community. Members come from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds with artists participating from the US, Ireland, Lebanon, Belgium, Canada, among other places.
